Visual Focus designers and technicians are highly trained in the latest audio-visual equipment, techniques and standards.
The Visual Focus team takes pride in keeping up to date with the latest technology. Our team attends annual training with industry Associations such as AVIXA (Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association) and CEDIA (Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association). They also attend regular manufacturer training and updates held by Epson, Crestron, Amber Technology, Kramer and more.

Our Managing Director, Ralph Atkinson stays at the forefront of new audio-visual technology and has been the face of Visual Focus for 10 years. He has over 25 years experience working as a television director, editor and cameraman, an audio engineer and technician for live theatre and has designed and operated the gamut of audio-visual systems. Ralph was Head of Audio at the largest regional performing arts venue in Australia, the Empire Theatre in Toowoomba for 12 years and toured across Australia, in New Zealand and Asia with various contemporary musicians and artists.

Ruth has many years experience as a Theatre Venue Manager, Arts Touring Manager, Event Programming and Marketing Manager. She was Director at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts (2008-2016), where she founded the Fresh Ground artist-in-residence program. Her career began in television as a director and in radio programming. Other roles were with ABC Radio, Sunshine Television and Mackay Television Networks, with the Northern Australian Regional Performing Arts Centres Association (NARPACA now known as Stage Queensland), at Empire Theatre Toowoomba and at QUT Garden’s Theatre and Art Museum.
Ruth holds an MBA and Post Graduate qualifications in Arts and Cultural Management and a Bachelor of Business (Marketing). She contributes her extensive experience to various Arts Management projects as a Creative Producer. She is a Co-Founder/Director of Curious Arts Inc. a not for profit organisation behind the development of the Curious Arts Festival Toowoomba (March 2019) and is a partner in RAVA Productions.
